So by now you’re all familiar with the Sony hacking and subsequent reveal of “important,” and “really, really important,” emails that were leaked to the “media.”

We’ve all been privy to the catty conversations regarding celebrities, their handlers and the people who produce blockbuster films.

People are getting fired over these private emails being released.  Angelina Jolie got her feelings hurt. Obama was the butt of some cruel, racist jokes. 

Here’s the thing that I need you to focus on. 

THIS WAS A TERRORIST ATTACK.

Ya dig? A terrorist attack.  Some terrorist hackers came into our country on the information highway and exposed private information and emails about Americans doing their jobs to entertain the public. They did this because of the movie, The Interview, which is a COMEDY about North Korean Dictator Whatever His Name Is being assassinated. 

This event is not about what emails said what about what movie star.  This event is not about hurting reputations or feelings. Let’s face it- those people who were saying all that mean stuff very likely already HAVE bad reputations for being catty and mean. It’s LA, people. This should not be a surprise to anyone. 

This event was a terrorist attack on our soil and instead of being shocked and afraid of how easy this was to pull off we’re running around saying, “Did you see Angelina’s face when she saw Amy Pascal?? I mean, I just CAN’T!  I won’t!!”

Well I won’t either. Because I don’t care about Amy Pascal or what she thinks about anyone in the world. What I do care about is the fact that American, Amy Pascal was violated by hackers and instead of panicking and trying to find out who, why, where and how – we’re on Entertainment Tonight being properly offended at the Sony executive’s racist comments.

PLEASE.  You can look at Facebook for 11 seconds and find the exact same racist Obama stuff in your newsfeed and you know it.  

My point is we are losing focus on what actually happened!  And now – movie chains are dropping the movie!! Those hackers are winning.  Those criminals who stole information and released it to the world are WINNING. 

I saw something today where someone wrote about releasing the movie online, anyway.  I think that is the greatest idea of all time. RELEASE THE MOVIE!!!  Just make it public and charge a few bucks and we can all watch a movie we probably wouldn’t have even been interested in if these dumb hackers hadn’t pulled this stunt.  But if we don’t release the movie, and we continue to lament about the social failings of snobby, rich movie people and the movie theaters cave – WHERE ARE WE?  I mean, seriously.  Gross. 

Come on America – you fell for it.  Hook, line and sinker. 

And just like anyone who gets pranked and falls for it - it’s time to say, “Okay, okay – you got me. But stop now, because you’re about to really piss me off.”
